Connected Conversations from in the Room: Gopichand Mannava, Chief Data Architect, State of Connecticut

Gopi Mannava shares insights on enterprise data architecture, AI governance, public-sector innovation, and the value of executive peer collaboration across technology leadership.

Recently we had the opportunity to ask Gopichand Mannava, Chief Data Architect for the State of Connecticut and an independent researcher in data architecture and AI governance, about his experience at a Kodi Connect Executive Networking Exchange. Gopichand is a 2026 Oracle-recognized Analytics and AI Leader and an Executive Member of the Forbes Technology Council, where he publishes original research and technical analysis on AI governance, data architecture, and regulatory compliance. He has spent more than a decade designing and researching enterprise-scale data and analytics platforms that strengthen governance, improve decision-making, and modernize complex information systems across large public-sector environments.

For Gopi, the biggest takeaway from the evening was realizing that technology leaders across industries are facing many of the same challenges. "Whether you're in banking, healthcare, or state government, every leader in that room is solving the same problem: how to adopt AI responsibly without slowing down or increasing risk." He explained that the event was especially valuable because "the conversations went beyond trends and into how leaders are actually operationalizing AI governance, data strategy, and cyber resilience inside complex, regulated environments, that's rare and genuinely useful."

One discussion in particular reinforced an important perspective for Gopi. "AI adoption in large institutions is as much a governance and change-management challenge as it is a technical one," he shared. "Especially in the public sector, where transparency and accountability carry as much weight as innovation itself." One practical takeaway he'll apply moving forward is "bringing architecture, security, and governance stakeholders into AI and platform initiatives earlier in the process. It's a small shift that prevents costly rework and risk down the line."

As someone responsible for enterprise-scale data architecture, Gopi believes conversations like these are critical. "At this level, decisions about data architecture, AI governance, and platform strategy carry organization-wide - in my case, statewide - impact," he explained. "Conversations like this help validate strategic direction before it's tested at scale." He also emphasized the importance of building a trusted executive network. "In a field moving this fast, no single leader has all the answers. A trusted peer network is where you pressure-test your thinking and walk away with more confidence in your decisions."

For those considering attending their first Kodi Connect event, Gopi's advice is straightforward. "You're not sitting through another one-way presentation, you're in the room with senior leaders actively building, securing, and modernizing enterprise technology, and that kind of direct peer exchange is hard to find anywhere else."

Gopi's interest in joining the Kodi Connect Advisory Board reflects the same collaborative mindset that drew him to the event. He hopes to contribute his expertise in enterprise data architecture, analytics modernization, AI governance, and public-sector technology while helping shape strategic discussions that benefit technology leaders across industries. Through both his hands-on leadership experience and ongoing research in enterprise architecture, Gopi is committed to advancing meaningful conversations around responsible innovation, modern data ecosystems, and the future of technology leadership.
