We recently spoke with Avdhesh Kumar Bhardwaj, VP, DevSecOps Engineer at Truist Financial Corporation, to discuss his experience at a Kodi Connect Cybersecurity (CISO) Executive Networking Exchange in Atlanta and why peer-to-peer collaboration remains essential for today's cybersecurity and technology leaders. With more than two decades of experience architecting secure software delivery systems across the United States, Europe, and Asia, Avdhesh is recognized as a leader in DevSecOps, cloud security, AI-driven threat detection, and secure software supply chain architecture. His work as a researcher, author, speaker, and advisor has focused on helping organizations modernize engineering practices while maintaining resilience and security at scale.
If Avdhesh had to describe the event in one word, it would be "focused." What stood out most to him was the quality of the conversations and the practical nature of the discussions. "Everyone is dealing with the same problems, just at different scale and maturity," he shared. For Avdhesh, the event was well worth the time because "the conversations were practical, not theoretical, and came from people actually running large environments." He noted that hearing directly from leaders responsible for solving complex challenges provided valuable context that simply isn't available through traditional industry content.
One of the themes that resonated throughout the evening was the evolving role of security in modern organizations. Avdhesh explained that several conversations reinforced his belief that "security decisions are becoming more runtime-driven rather than pipeline-only." He also walked away with a specific takeaway he plans to apply: "Tightening feedback loops between runtime signals and pipeline controls." As organizations continue balancing innovation with risk management, he believes "security controls need to be adaptive, not static."
When asked what makes peer-to-peer conversations valuable, Avdhesh was direct: "You get unfiltered insights. No slide decks, no marketing layers." He contrasted the experience with traditional conferences, noting that "traditional events feel one-directional, this felt collaborative." In fact, he said the event didn't feel like networking at all. "It felt like problem-solving." Whether discussing developer velocity, software supply chain security, cloud risk, or AI, attendees were able to openly share challenges and learn from one another's experiences.
Avdhesh also emphasized the importance of trusted peer networks at the executive level. "At this level, problems are complex. You need perspectives from others solving similar challenges," he explained. He believes these connections help leaders validate decisions, avoid blind spots, and benchmark their own approaches against peers facing similar risks. The curated nature of the event was another differentiator. "You're talking to the right people, not just more people," he said, highlighting the strong alignment in roles and challenges that makes conversations immediately relevant.
For those considering attending their first Kodi Connect event, Avdhesh's advice is simple: "Come prepared to listen and share honestly. That's where the value is." He believes the format encourages authentic conversations, lowers barriers to asking real questions, and helps leaders cut through the noise. "You hear what's actually working, not just what's being sold."
Avdhesh's interest in joining the Kodi Connect Advisory Board stems from many of the same principles that made the event valuable to him. He is passionate about supporting organizations focused on innovation, responsible technology adoption, and secure digital ecosystems. Through thought leadership, strategic guidance, and industry collaboration, he hopes to contribute to Kodi Connect's mission while helping strengthen the broader technology and cybersecurity community.
